MANDENI HONOURS CLASS OF 2023 MATRICULANTS – TOP TEN SCHOOLS & TEACHERS AWARDED; 101 REGISTRATION BURSARIES CONFERRED

14 FEBRUARY 2024 – Mandeni Local Municipality held its coveted annual Matric Excellence Awards at Sibusisiwe Hall. The event was aimed at honoring the Class of 2023 Matriculants from around Mandeni who played a pivotal role in improving the pass rate of iLembe District and KwaZulu-Natal as a whole.

This event was also used as a platform to confer 101 Registration Bursaries to qualifying students from under Mandeni Local Municipality. South Africa’s giant telecommunications provider, MTN sponsored our high-achieving student with a Laptop, and the rest of the Top five received Tablets.

Speaking at this event, his Worship the Mayor, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose lauded the teachers, learners, and everyone involved in the education sector within Mandeni for sterling work and assured that the Municipality, much like every year, is open to assist in any way possible.

“Mandeni is a base for great things, the people of Mandeni, on all fronts have proven to always strive for excellence and improving themselves. It is no surprise that we are gathered here today in celebration of the hard work of students and teachers alike.”

This year’s high achiever student is Khayalethu Ndwandwe who scooped 8- distinctions. In the School’s top ten best-performing schools, Madlanga High School and Mandeni Academy shared the number one spot with each school obtaining a 100% pass rate.

During this ceremony, the uMhleli Foundation and Ethel Mthiyane Special School were awarded the Mayoral Honorary Awards for their extramural contributions to the overall educational system within Mandeni.
