The newly elected Youth Council leadership

On 25 May 2022, Mandeni Local Municipality, successfully launched the Mandeni Youth Council structure for the current term of office, which will represent young people from across all 18 wards to pursue the elevation and representation of young people within the Municipal fold.

The council will assume the responsibilities of engaging in robust discussions centered around youth matters such as Economic Empowerment, Sport, Education, Social Wellness, as well as various other sectors where the youth needs to have a voice.

Speaking during this gathering, His Worship the Mayor, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose, cited that a formation of this nature is important in ensuring that young people have a clear vision, speak in one voice and shape their own future.

“The young people of Mandeni have trusted you with a responsibility to lead them, they could have chosen anyone to form part of this structure but they trusted you. It is your duty to then make sure that they are well represented and their concerns are raised properly. Not only that, you also have a responsibility to guide, educate and attract likeminded organizations to come forth and assist young people of Mandeni” said Mdlalose.
