Churchgoers during the Mass Prayer at Sibusisiwe Hall
On 19 February 2022, Mandeni Local Municipality hosted a successful Mass Prayer against various social ills. The multifaceted prayer had representatives from various religious groups under the five fraternities under Mandeni.
The gathering was a success and yielded positive engagements around channeling the greater society towards positivity, oneness and making Mandeni peaceful for all who live in it.
Speaking at the Prayer, His Worship the Mayor, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose lauded the commitment by religious groups in making Mandeni better and for always coming forth with solutions for various challenges faced by the society.
“We are very happy about the role of the church in Mandeni, for years we have always had a great relationship with various church groups. This helps us in dealing with a lot of things, we also get guidance and spiritual revival in order to work even harder”
Among the social ills earmarked as needing attention and prayers is substance abuse, scourge of violence levelled against women and children as well as prayers for the 2021 -2026 council.
In his remarks, Mdlalose further urged community members to keep abreast with the Municipal activities on all available platforms in order to prevent being misled thus resorting to violent means of airing their concerns.
“The more we visit Municipal offices, source information through official social media pages and the website, the more we will be informed and not be misled by people who want to pursue their agendas. This will ensure that we maintain calmness which result in attracting investors. This will help us in our quest to reinstating Mandeni as the breadbasket of iLembe and surrounding areas”
