His Worship the Mayor of Mandeni Local Municipality, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose clearing dirt near a drainage system in Mandeni CBD

In a bid to revitalize Mandeni CBD and to strengthen relations with those operating within the town precinct, Mandeni Local Municipality led by His Worship the Mayor Cllr. TP Mdlalose rolled out the ‘Keep Mandeni Clean’ campaign on 14 February 2020. This campaign saw Councilors, Directors, Managers, Municipal Officials, various role-players such as iThala, Edtea and iLembe District Municipality representatives taking to the streets ridding the town of dirt.

The campaign yielded positive engagements with members of the community and business owners within Mandeni CBD as they were also educated on ways to keep the town clean. A huge number of patrons lauded this initiative.

Speaking during this Campaign, His Worship the Mayor of Mandeni Local Municipality, Cllr. Thabani Mdlalose urged community members to be warry of littering and ensure they keep their surroundings clean.

“Cleanliness is not only the responsibility of a few, it’s a collective responsibility that all of us should take part in. We have to strive for a clean and healthy place. I strongly encourage community members to keep their surroundings clean.” Said Mdlalose before urging those who have businesses within the CBD to also make sure their place of work is kept clean.

“As people who serve others, it is important to make sure you serve clean food and in a safe area. Please utilize the plastic bags being provided by the Municipality, also do away with filling drains with dirt, when they get blocked they cause havoc during rainy days.” further commented Mdlalose.
