Beautiful Crafts Showcased in Mandeni

Mandeni Municipality celebrated Women’s Month by hosting a Craft Exhibition on Tuesday 22 August 2017 at the Sibusiswe Community Hall. The aim of the Crafts Exhibition was to showcase the women’s beautiful hand crafted work within the iLembe District.

Mayor Cllr Sphesihle Zulu said Mandeni Municipality is strategically placed between two major ports of Richards Bay and Durban making it a conducive environment for business to strive.  “I wish to encourage you all to take a good example from the women of 1956 who marched to Union buildings to say it is enough with the pass laws, freedom is vested to our shoulders, as the Mandeni Municipality we have managed to save our women from fetching wood from forests, and that was achieved through the provision of electricity for our communities” he said.His Worship, Mayor Zulu said women must be celebrated every day and not only on the 9th of August as they place an integral part in our communities. Deputy Mayor Cllr Phindile Sishi said the women existence is always visible in our communities. “I urge you all to take the good example from Mama Lillian Ngoyi and others who staged a huge protest to boycott pass laws” she said. The Deputy Mayor also said women abusers will face the full might of the law.
