Residents Welcome Upgrades for Highview Park

Mandeni Municipality has announced the contractors appointed for the upgrade of the Road and Storm-water drains and black top upgrades for Highview Park in ward 3, on Tuesday 20 June 2017 at the Global Destiney Church. 

Addressing the community, acting Municipal Manager Mr Sizwe Khuzwayo said he believes the upgrades will be welcomed by the community of Highview Park.  “We hope that this will bring about a sigh of relief to the residents of Highview Park as the project has been delayed before, the project will not only boost the community infrastructure, but it will also create job opportunities for the youth as Mandeni is currently faced with a high rate of unemployment in our communities,” said Municipal Manager Khuzwayo.  

The proposed upgrading is for approximately 4.4 km of roads within Highview Park and this will also include sidewalks, and catch-pits construction. Deputy Mayor Cllr Phindile Sishi said the project will start in June this year. “The municipality has allocated an amount of Twenty-six million rand, the contractor will also recruit 6 local residents including the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) at the start of the project, as the work progresses more labour will be employed within the community,” concluded Deputy Mayor Sishi.
